Hawker 1000

A very new addition to British Aerospace's HS-125 series of private business jets, the Hawker 1000 is very roomy for a jet of its' kind. It also boasts having intercontinental range abilities.

The roominess of the Hawker 1000 is due to the biomorphic design of some of its' jets. There are also some models that come in the traditional design. The smooth curve design of the biomorphic style ensures the comfort of the passengers and creates more useful space. With the cabin being 24.4 ft. long, 5.8 ft. high and 6 ft. wide, it can hold at least eight seats but can hold even more depending on the configuration.

The thrust at takeoff provides 5,255 pounds with the use of two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW305 turbofan engines. Engine noise is reduced by using a new design that puts out the exhaust at a slower velocity. The noise footprint is only 90 EPNdB of 1.6 square miles compared to a typical turboprop that has a footprint of 4.2 square miles.

The Hawker 1000 also boasts having optimal fuel use to provide the best performance possible. This is due to the Full-Authority Digital Control (FADEC) system which is a new feature of PW305 engines. The FADEC not only has a good specific fuel consumption but is also responsible for the better thrust. The pilot's workload is lessened during startup and flight since it is programmed to automatically increase thrust in a working engine if the other engine should fail.

Another feature of the Hawker 1000 is the Automatic Performance Reserve (APR) which is responsible for the low 36% increase in runway distance when at high altitude. It also let the hot-day temperature margins of engines for use in extra takeoff thrust. Other jets can only utilize these margins for single-engine takeoffs.

The Hawker 1000 cruise speed is 400 knots, or .60 Mach at 41,000 feet, and 453 knots, .68 Mach, at 37,000 feet. It's maximum range is 3,530 miles. When the Hawker 1000 is a maximum range and range parameters it burns 232 gallons of fuel per hour and can hold a capacity of 11,300 pounds.

A standard feature is the Honeywell SPX-8000 dual-channel digital flight system. Another standard feature is the five EDZ-818 flat panel screen flight instrumentation system, the LSZ lightning sensor system, the Primas 870 Doppler turbulence system, and the Bendix/king KHF transceiver.

The Hawker 1000 is a consistent and economic private jet that will be reliable in its' performance for a long time. The passengers have plenty of room in the cabin. Avionics are intuitive and reliable, and the engines are strong enough to take the plane practically anywhere. The Hawker 1000 is a good mid-sized private jet that can be relied upon to meet all of the necessary requirements and even more.
